Our Story

Our journey as an auto repair business began with Bob Emmert, a skilled Volvo and Mercedes-Benz dealership technician who started working on cars in his garage on the weekends. His technical expertise, honesty, and genuine desire to help people quickly build a loyal customer base. As demand grew, Bob took the leap and turned his side business into a full-fledged auto repair shop.

He started by purchasing a used auto parts store in Santa Cruz that specialized in European vehicles. Recognizing the need for high-quality repairs, he expanded the business to include a full-service auto repair facility. Over the years, what began as a small shop has grown into two thriving locations in Santa Cruz and Watsonville (Freedom), CA, servicing thousands of vehicles and employing over 40 skilled professionals. Our ASE-certified team includes Master Certified Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volvo, and Volkswagen specialists. 

Today, Bob’s son, Aaron Emmert, proudly continues his father’s legacy. Having started working in the shop at age 12, Aaron grew up learning the ins and outs of the automotive industry. Under his leadership, Specialized Auto & Fleet continues to uphold the original vision:
